Mr. Raj Kamal Jha,
The Indian Express Newspaper,
Dear Mr. Raj Kamal Jha,
Note: On 24th April, 2017, 25 jawans of the CRPF were killed in an ambush carried out by Maoists in Burkapal area of Sukma district in Chhattisgarh. PUCL Chhattisgarh state unit issued a Press Statement soon after news broke out about the massacre condemning the ruthlessness with which the ambush was carried out. Despite this, Mr. Venkiah Naidu, Union Minister condemned human rights groups for not saying anything about the ambush. PUCL National President, Mr.
Note: The Government of India through its Ministry of Home Affairs has been labelling social activists as being or belonging to or sympathetic to `Maoists” a pejorative to being anti-national or terrorists; we are publishing a letter written to the President of India protesting the specific instance of dubbing the Dongria Kondh adivasis who fought against the Vedanta plant in Odisha as being linked to “maoists” by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Shri Pranab Mukherjee
The suggestion of chief Justice of India to even act as a mediator in pending Babri Masjid demolition case, showed his concern but was a little odd considering that it has come at the instance of an inter meddler, and without parties involved being before the Court – that is why it caused amongst the parties a certain concern. In my view Babri Masjid demolition case is not a matter for compromise. This case raises the deep constitutional concern regarding our constitution which clearly says India is a secular republic.
